In the middle of the Palentina Mountain, this rural tourism complex is located in one of the most unique buildings in Cordovilla de Aguilar, El Mayorazgo. Original from the seventeenth century, it is a complex set of buildings, belonging since its origin to the same family, which hosted all the uses and needs of the rural agricultural and livestock economy of this area.
The passage of the centuries has transformed it into the mass of buildings that we know today. The fact of being a solid building in stone faithful to the traditional architecture of the area, raised its rehabilitation with the utmost respect for its origins, thus preserving its exterior stone appearance, and its wooden structures in slabs and roofs .
In the interior, however, the requirements of comfort and habitability, were resolved by integrating the presence of existing elements, with materials, furniture and decoration of a more contemporary nature.
The result is three houses with well-differentiated personalities, product of an individualized transformation of the characteristics of their original buildings.
- Thus, the Gutierrez House (family name that inhabited it for centuries) occupies the main nucleus of the original home, retaining practically intact much of its original structure and furniture.
- The Casa del Arco takes its name from the entrance arch to what was the part of the oldest house in the complex, combining conservation with a new spatial approach.
- One of the haystacks of the complex has been transformed into Casa Montes, achieving a spectacular open space on the upper floor by fully recovering its wooden deck structure.
