Summary: We stayed as a family of 5 adults (all over 18yo) although the house could easily accommodate two families as there is a lot of space inside and out. The house was exactly as described on VRBO, very clean and very well equipped. The pool is also a really good size and has some great seating areas; we did not use them all! Isabelle and her husband were great hosts and whilst we had a couple of things that needed addressing (it's a house, sometime things need fixing); Isabelle and her husband were very responsive with both communication and resolution. The area is quiet, which is exactly what we wanted, and not 'touristy'. Montpellier centre ville is about 30mins and some great beaches 40mins drive away, although we're not great beach people (sand!) and you have a great pool at the house. We had day trips to Carcassonne (2hrs drive, but you should go), Nimes (my favorite), St.Guilhem le Desert (beautiful village), Montpellier and a few others. Left more to see next time. Locally there's the Intermarche about 10-15mins away in Saint-Mathieu-de-Traviers, for your supermarket shopping, and also a great patisserie in the same town (although supermarket also has one). Saint Jean-De-Cuculles has a small local bar up by the church which we wandered up to a few times at night. There's a good pick of local restaurants around although you'll struggle to find online reviews or menus. Most are very French, which worked out great for us. We found booking (given August) for dinner was a good idea (particularly weekends when a lot seems to be closed). Cote Cour was good, as was Parc le Duc (for lunch), Phil's pizza for takeout pizza. La Guinguette has great views on the lake (if you book for dinner you don't pay for lake access) I also managed a couple of local hikes including Pic Saint Loup; it's on Alltrails, well worth doing for the views. So in summary, beautiful house, great hosts, lovely area. 5 stars all round. Ian and Tracy.
