This spacious and well-equipped apartment forms the top floor of a large Mediterranean style villa. It has two double bedrooms, a large lounge, kitchen and dining area and two bathrooms. There are comfortable chairs and sofa in the lounge and a TV with smart box and also DVD and stereo systems. There is a cot and stair gate available, if required.
The apartment has its own front door with an internal spiral staircase leading to the top floor. Before booking, please check photographs to ascertain whether the staircase is suitable for all members of your group. The apartment has a private courtyard and large garden with tables, chairs, awning and magnificent views. The garden and courtyard are solely for the use of this apartment, so guests can enjoy privacy and space. There is also a small outdoor kitchen area with refrigerator and plancha.
The apartment is well-equipped with everything you should need, including TV with smart box, Wi Fi, , stereo system and DVD player with lots of DVDs and CDs. There is air-conditioning in the lounge area and heating for the Winter and ample seating.
There is parking for one car in front of the building, and further (off street) parking at the end of the drive.
The villa is in a unique, elevated position, overlooking the hamlet of Ginoles les Bains. There are amazing views of the mountains which surround the hamlet. It is a nature lover's paradise and one can regularly see eagles and vultures rising on the thermal drafts from the land below. The night sky above the house is spectacular. You can sit and watch the Milky Way glide across the sky!
The classy town of Quillan is a 15 minute stroll from the house. It has many fine hotels, bars and restaurants and a local market twice a week. There are many individual shops in town and two large well-stocked supermarkets on the outskirts. The town has a busy events calendar throughout the year, with lots of outdoor concerts, exhibitions, cycle races and even motor races.
There is a bus station, and the town is well-connected to historic Carcassonne to the North and the Mediterranean resorts to the South East. Limoux, home of "Blanquette de Limoux", the sparkling wine invented by monks and the original "Champagne", is only 29 km away.
Quillan is situated in the heart of Cathar country and is within easy driving distance of many Cathar castles. For followers of the Da Vinci code, Rennes-le-Château, where Bérenger Saunière allegedly discovered treasure, is very close at hand.
For those of an active persuasion, there are fishing, kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting activities close by, and in Winter the nearest ski resort is only 35 km away.
Close to the town of Quillan, a new swimming lake has been created and it has a lovely beach around it on which you can sunbathe or enjoy water sports.There is also a café bar where you can sit and soak up the warmth of the sun in the shade of a parasol.
