Positive: The short version: Pros: - Beautiful location - Large house with every amenity - Reasonably priced in September Cons: - Beds are not completely comfortable - Garden is separated from the house by a road - Not in La Caunette village as described - Pictures of the garden and pool are deceptive The long version: We’ve been coming to this corner of Languedoc almost every year for over 20 years, so know the area very well. The place we normally rent was booked, so we rented this house based on its location, the fact it has a pool, and the price.The house had all the amenities we needed: Bedrooms: ★★★☆☆ Kitchen and appliances: ★★★★☆ Living space: ★★★★☆ Parking: ★★★☆☆ WiFi: ★★☆☆☆ This house is in a beautiful location, but is not in the village of La Caunette as described. It’s in the tiny hamlet of Babio which is 1.5km away. La Caunette has a great cafe (Cafe de la Place,) a fancier restaurant (La Cave,) a small shop, and post office. The closest larger towns are around 20 minutes drive. The house was clean and tidy and the decor was exactly what we expected for the area. There were some charming murals painted on the walls. The living space and bedrooms were large, although the beds were only reasonably comfortable and could definitely be improved. We were generally happy with our stay at this house. None of the criticisms were deal-breakers for us although we wish we’d known about the precise location and had accurate details of the garden when we booked. If you know this area well, this house could be a good option. But, if you’re not familiar, you could easily feel very isolated and we would recommend staying somewhere closer to a larger town or village. Overall: House: ★★★★☆ Garden: ★★☆☆☆ Location: ★★★★☆ Pool: ★★☆☆☆

Negative: The garden was the most disappointing for us as it is separated from the house by a road and not connected to the house. The garden could have great views, but the hedges and trees block the view. The pictures of the pool are deceptive. The pool is not sunk into the ground, but is on a raised platform. It’s also much, much smaller than we expected. The pool alarm wasn’t working, but this wasn’t a concern for us. I wish we spoke better French as our hosts had very little English. But, that’s our fault and not theirs.
